Leeds City Council “Recycle Me” Paper Campaign.…September 2017

To encourage paper recycling from around the home a ‘Recycle Me’ paper campaign is running for the next 4 weeks in Leeds.

This campaign raises awareness of the different types of cardboard and paper that can go in green bins and why it’s important to recycle as much as we can to reduce carbon and save money by diverting it away from disposal.

Each year Leeds households throw away over 1,700 trees worth of perfectly recyclable paper. Laid end to end they would stretch from Leeds to York.

We capture some of this in our green bins but we need to do more as we strive to reduce the 306,000 tonnes of waste we collect from across the city each year.

An information leaflet will shortly be distributed to households in Leeds to help raise awareness. There will be further support from roadshows, social media, press work, bus and refuse collection vehicle advertising.

Remember to recycle your paper and card from around the home including the usual suspects of junk mail, cardboard packaging and envelopes.

Download the Leeds Bins app or visit www.leeds.gov.uk/paper for more information.
