About the Council
Council Meetings
The Council meets on a bi-monthly basis in Walton Village Hall to discuss and manage its areas of responsibility.
These are open, public meetings to which any resident may attend. As Parish Councils are a tier of local government, meetings must operate in a legal manner. This means that public attendees must follow some guidelines.
- They must arrive before the scheduled start time.
- They must sit in seating set out for public attendees.
- They cannot interrupt conversation or official discussion unless invited to contribute.
- They can only propose or ask questions in the public discussion prior to the meeting which may last up to 10 minutes.
If you do not wish to attend meetings but would still like to be kept updated on council matters, detailed Minutes are published on this website and also displayed on the Parish Council noticeboard.
Please note that meetings will be held on Monday evenings in the Village Hall at Walton at 7.30pm. As with any community, the more that are involved, the stronger and faster our vision is achieved and your council welcomes all feedback and involvement from Walton Village.
If you would like to discuss current issues within the parish, raise a separate topic or simply get a better understanding of what the Parish Council does, you are welcome to attend any of the scheduled meetings. If possible, please contact the Clerk at secretary@walton-pc.gov.uk before the meeting if you wish to make a representation.
Annual Parish Meeting and Chairman’s Report
The Annual Parish Meeting, in addition to being a review of the year, gives the opportunity for residents to present to the council on topics of interest to the Parish. In order for them to be included on the Agenda, details of any such topics should be notified to the Clerk no later than 1st May.
